AI Use Policy

The journal adheres to the "Recommendations on the Use of AI in Scholarly Communication" developed by the European Association of Science Editors. https://ease.org.uk/2024/09/recommendations-on-the-use-of-ai-in-scholarly-communication/

Use of AI by Authors

Authors are permitted to use AI tools at various stages of manuscript preparation. This may include:

  • text correction (grammar, spelling, style);
  • data analysis and automated generation of graphs, tables, or charts;
  • improving readability or translating text;
  • fact-checking and verification of scientific references.

However, authors must clearly disclose in the manuscript if AI was used at any stage. It is essential that AI technologies do not replace the authors' own scholarly work or be used to generate research findings that are not supported by experimental data or other scientific methods.

AI must not be used to fabricate data, falsify results, or generate scientific claims without appropriate verification. Users of AI are responsible for the accuracy of the outputs produced and for confirming compliance with ethical requirements.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors are required to state in the article if AI tools were used to assist in the preparation of the manuscript. This disclosure must be made in the "Acknowledgements" or "Materials and Methods" section, specifying which AI tools were used, their functionality, and their impact on the work.

It is important to note that AI is not an author of the article. The use of AI does not release authors from responsibility for the content of the article, the correctness of interpretations, or research integrity.

Use of AI by Reviewers

Reviewers are not permitted to share the content of a manuscript with third-party AI systems, as this violates confidentiality principles. However, reviewers may use AI to improve the structure and language of their reviews, provided that the manuscript content is not submitted to the AI system. Any changes or recommendations that reviewers include in a review must be based on their own analysis of the material.

Use of AI by the Editorial Board

The editorial team may use AI tools for the technical screening of articles (for example, to check for plagiarism or assess grammatical errors), to automate parts of the editorial process, and to assist in communication with authors and reviewers. However, the editorial team does not use AI to make editorial decisions regarding the publication of articles or to make changes to the content of a manuscript.

Principles of Ethics and Academic Integrity

This policy is aimed at ensuring academic integrity in the use of AI technologies. Authors and reviewers are obliged to observe the following ethical principles:

  • the use of AI must not violate academic integrity or research ethics;
  • all results obtained with the assistance of AI must be verified and confirmed by the author or reviewer;
  • AI technologies must not be used to manipulate data or produce fabricated results.

Responsibility for AI Use

Authors, reviewers, and the editorial team bear responsibility for the use of AI technologies within the scholarly process. If the use of AI tools has led to errors or ethical violations, this must be immediately disclosed and corrected. The editorial board reserves the right to retract articles that violate ethical standards or to request additional clarification from authors.
