Abstract. The article substantiates the expediency of using the potential of mass media and communication to improve and intensify the process of managing large-scale changes in national economies, which are caused by the need for their constant adaptation to resource, climate, geopolitical, etc. changes occurring on a global scale. and in their local environment, affect the social security of society.Emphasis is placed on the fact that modern mass media can influence progressive transformations in society, become a factor of useful reforms or much-needed changes in society or counteract these processes, promote criticism and conscious departure of the population from leading ideas of the past with awareness of the value of new experience. dissemination and growing popularity of new ideas, concepts, plans, programs and projects.
The example of the analysis of needs and directions of changes in the energy supply system of the national economy of Algeria the article demonstrates the feasibility of such use of the media system, when the latter operate in the mode of "object-subject", which is characterized by being objects management by their owners (government, business, parties, consumer associations, etc.), they also act as subjects of influence on the formation of the information space, its content and mentality of the general population (consumers). At the same time, the influence of the "fourth power" simultaneously affects both the target objects of their influence and their subjects-owners. It is proved that the inclusion of mass media in the chain "subject - object-subject - object" enhances the overall coefficient of transformation of the system, formulates the conditions for such an effect and proposes the next steps to study the role of mass media in management processes changes.
