Abstract

The article examines the importance of the construction industry in the development of the State's economy. It is determined that, along with the fact that the construction industry is one of the leading sectors that ensure the growth of the Ukrainian economy, its activities cause a lot of damage to the environment. The study identifies environmental threats to construction processes, which are manifested in water and air pollution, waste accumulation and significant energy consumption. To identify opportunities for remedying the situation, the study analysed the construction industry's compliance with the principles of sustainable development based on economic, environmental and social components. Based on the analysis, the positive aspects of the industry's functioning, the main problems that arise in the construction process, and recommendations for their solution were identified. Based on the study, it has been determined that in order to ensure that the construction industry complies with the principles of sustainable development, it is advisable to apply logistics approaches to the management of the construction cycle. However, certain factors of inefficiency of logistics in construction caused by the specifics of the industry itself should be taken into account. Since the issue of optimising supply chains arises due to the chaotic and impractical nature of existing chains, it is proposed to formulate the logistics policy of a construction company based on an integrated approach that takes into account corporate strategy, personnel organisation, supply chain strategy, building information modelling (BIM), delivery methods and routes. Such an approach will contribute to both the efficiency of construction projects and the sustainability of construction companies in the market in the long term. It is concluded that construction companies seeking to secure a sustainable position in the market should consider logistics from the perspective of ‘green logistics’ and as an ode to the main components of the industry's transformation towards sustainable development.
