The purpose of the article is to analyse the problems and prospects of the development of international tourism in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. The study substantiates the existing potential, condition, and attractiveness of the city's historical and cultural monuments, and identifies directions for their improvement. A sociological study was conducted among managers, employees of tourist facilities and tourists who visited them, including foreigners.
The city of Ivano-Frankivsk was chosen as the object of the study. Attention is focused on the problems that become an obstacle for the more powerful development of international tourism in the city: insufficient number of accommodation and food establishments, lack of parking spaces, insufficient tourist infrastructure and small number of attractive events. An analysis of tourist flows was carried out. It can be argued that the number of foreign tourists in the city is not stable, but depends on various factors, such as the political situation, the economic state of the country, the epidemiological situation, the presence of martial law, etc. The main reasons for the decline in international tourism in Ivano-Frankivsk over the past three years (2020-2023) are obvious: the COVUD-19 pandemic and the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to the results of a study of foreign visitors - international tourists, the tourist attractions of Ivano-Frankivsk were most often visited by Polish tourists. They were interested in all objects except the Reform Synagogue. Tourists from England, the USA, China, Belarus, France and Bahrain were among the surveyed respondents - visitors to tourist facilities in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk.
The most attractive historical and cultural objects of Ivano-Frankivsk are: Gartenberg Passage, Jesuit Church, Armenian Church, Ivano-Frankivsk Local History Museum and Temple Reform Synagogue. The least attractive objects are: Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Museum, Jesuit College, Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of the Liberation Struggle named after Stepan Bandera.
It was concluded that in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, the development of international tourism in Ivano-Frankivsk looks like a relevant and promising industry, which can become an important source of income for the city and help increase its prestige in the international community.
